What is an Internet Merchant Account?

The Internet mechant account is not at all like a bank account - it is more like a credit line. When your customers order online from your web site, the credit card information provided will be used to process the transaction. When the approval is obtained you are notified, through email confirmation and it will be posted to your Web-based Administrative interface. Then, upon settlement, merchant bank is informed and funds will be transferred to your business bank account, usually within a day (normally).

A "per-transaction" fee may also apply. Transaction fees can vary depending on product type
(e.g. downloadable software, membership, donation, etc.), but most often, transaction fees are 25 cents per transaction.

Many ecommerce service providers charge between 1.5%-15% of your sales revenue, additionally. However, Payment Online DOES NOT charge a "percentage" of your revenue.
